Ever notice how much you can learn from a balanced perspective? The best insight comes from an opinion swap that looks at the same thing, from different perspectives. Sandy and Howard, both marketing professionals with an array of practical business knowledge, take on the challenge of discussing marketing strategy and implementation with two microphones and a chess clock (literally!) that keeps fair time between one big personality and the next.
Each episode features a new topic and a new angle of commentary. Subscribe to the RSS feed or through iTunes (or email if you are so inclined) and don’t miss a thing. In fact, we even have a Facebook page which works just as well. Your choice, all we ask is that you listen.
How the Episodes are Made
Shows are recorded at Howard’s office in Mount Laurel, NJ. We try to make the shows feel as spontaneous as possible, although maintain an element of direction. We start by selecting a general topic, and then whiteboard a whole mess (literally) of ideas to discuss. Then we start the recording.
Once we have gabbed intelligently discussed the topic for about 10-15 minutes (and usually after a few outbursts of laughter), Sandy writes the show notes and Howard edits the audio. The goal is to have as little editing as possible while keeping the episodes short and entertaining.
About the Chess Clock
Perhaps it is a gimmick, but it keeps us both on our toes. On one hand, we are pretty aware whether one person is dominating the conversation because the clock doesn’t lie! (It does tick.) And on the other hand, it helps manage interruptions so that each of us can get through to the ends of our sentences. And on the third hand, it is fun to bang the clock.

Robotic GPS Voice Lady
Okay, she is Howard’s idea, not quite sure why. Perhaps he is lonely and needs a computerized voice to talk to him. Please don’t ask him about it. That said, she is the voice on Twitter and she has been known to flirt with other gadgets.
What’s with the Name?
Call it pure inspiration or complete and total lack of creativity, but we wanted each episode to be about 10 minutes long. And since we are in South Jersey, right around Exit 4 on the NJ Turnpike, well, we thought we’d bring some of that New Jersey “charm” into the mix.
